As the crypto industry bounces back with what looks to be another bull market, a Reddit user with the handle ‘B1ueEyesWh1teDragon’ shared a clip of Caroline Ellison – CEO of FTX-linked trading firm Alameda Research – seemingly appearing on popular children’s TV series Arthur in 2003.
Arthur, first aired in 1996, tells the story of third grader Arthur Read, an anthropomorphic aardvark, as he navigates family, school, and friendships.
Early Arthur episodes contained an “A Word From Us Kids” segment featuring US elementary school students engaged in activities like reading and drawing.

A child bearing an uncanny resemblance to Caroline Ellison appeared in an “A Word From Us Kids” segment in an unidentified episode aired in 2003. In the one-minute clip, the child, in glasses and short curly hair, appears as the first student introduced.
She introduced the school she filmed in, and that she and her friends were there to talk about scary stories they read.
“Often you’re scared because you think something terrible is going to happen,” the young girl said. She then goes on to talk about the novel Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy that she read at the time.
“When I read a scary story and I start feeling scared and I can’t get to sleep… I think about something else… I think about something happy,” she said.
The Redditor who shared the Arthur clip went on to provide information about Ellison’s background to support his claim.
The segment was filmed at the Maria L. Baldwin School, a public elementary school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Caroline Ellison attended Bigelow Middle School in Newton, a small town in Massachusetts that’s a twenty-minute drive from Cambridge.
She then attended Newton North High School, where she represented the US in the 2011 International Mathematics Olympiad.
A media profile of Ellison by The Boston Globe also confirmed her as a Newton, Massachusetts native.
“I am convinced this is her now,” the Redditor wrote.
Caroline Ellison on trial
As the FTX case remains ongoing, Caroline Ellison is currently taking the stand and testifying against SBF. In December 2022, Ellison, along with FTX co-founder Gary Wang, pleaded guilty to fraud charges. Ellison is currently on bail for US$250,000 as part of the plea agreement.
Ellison has made several damning allegations against the former FTX overlord, who is also her ex partner. She alleged that SBF attempted to bribe Chinese officials US$150 million (AU$233 million) to unfreeze Alameda Research’s accounts on crypto exchanges OKX and Huobi. The accounts are reported to be worth US$1 billion (AU$1.56 billion).
Ellison also shared that SBF had an ambition to run for US President, and that he wanted to raise funds from the Saudi Crown Prince.
The crypto community on Reddit expressed amazement at the fact that the original poster is able to remember a scene from two decades ago.
“This is why the human mind is so incredible and terrifying at the same time,” one Reddit user wrote.
