The Most Interesting Man in the World has been hired to plug Bitcoin. Bitwise Invest have been parading the new ad today, and the Most Interesting Man looks his usual debonair self in the ad.
Bitwise Invest provides investment products related to Bitcoin, Ethereum, DeFi, and NFTs. The company claims to be the largest crypto index fund manager in America, with over $693 million (AU$1.03bn) in assets under management as of December 2023.
Dos Equis dude is in ‘interesting man world’
This guy is now one of the internet’s most famous memes.
Originally, the actor (real name Jonathan Goldsmith) appeared in a series of ads for Dos Equis beer as a bearded, refined older man with funny and outrageous voiceovers. The “interesting man world” was quite the spectacle.
Goldsmith first played this role in the U.S. in 2006 and it became a viral sensation online. The campaign wrapped up in 2018, but the meme lived on.
When auditioning, Goldsmith impressed the casting crew with his improvisation skills when they gave him the final line “…and that’s how I arm wrestled Fidel Castro” and told him to make up the rest.
The series of ads showed Goldman in exaggerated social situations with hot chicks. They also showed clips of his (probably imaginary) adventures when he was younger.
‘Interesting man world’ has bears in it
The most interesting man got up to a lot of adventures in his advertising campaign. These wild missions included rescuing bears from traps, reeling in a marlin while flirting with hot chicks, arm-wrestling in Latin America, surfing huge waves,and deadlifting two hot ladies in chairs while in a casino.
What does the Dos Equis guy say?
The voiceovers were designed to be outrageous. At the end of the ads, usually flanked by many beautiful women, he says, “I don’t always drink beer. But when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.”
He also ended each ad with his signature phrase: “Stay thirsty, my friends.”
Where is The Most Interesting Man in the World today?
There’s good news here. He is still being his stylish self, but now he’s been absorbed by the crypto industry. Now, Goldman is being used to make us all thirsty for Bitcoin. Or rather, Bitcoin ETFs, and eventually maybe, spot Bitcoin ETFs.
