The Apple Vision Pro has only been released for *checks calendar* less than a week, and people are already complaining about the fact that it doesn’t support VR porn.

First reported by 404 Media, some horny users of the ‘spatial computing’ device have been using it to explore their fantasies. We don’t kink shame here, okay?

Vision Pro: $3,499 but what’s the point?

On the r/oculusnsfw subreddit that boasts 215,000 members, one top post from a user the past week asked the community if anyone has “figured out” the Vision Pro.

“Dying to get this to work haha, if anyone has a success story please tell me how,” the poster pleaded.

With 54 upvotes and 47 comments – not bad for a shadowed Reddit forum – most users complained about the fact that unlike Meta’s Quest headset, Vision Pro does not permit the download of VR porn apps.

“Worse than the PlayStation VR 2. $3,500 chastity belt,” a top comment read.

Another top comment from a user sarcastically mocked the Vision Pro, and recommended the poster opt for Meta’s Quest device instead.

“[The hack] involves restoring it to default factory settings, boxing it up, selling it on eBay, buying a Quest 3 and pocketing the $3,000 difference. Let us know if that works,” they wrote.

VR porn: Playable, but also not playable

404 Media also reported that the general consensus from Vision Pro users seems to be that you could still access Safari to search for a porn site and watch “flat” 2D porn. However, it’s the 180-degree, side-by-side immersive porn that the Vision Pro is not able to play.

But what is the rationale behind this? Philipp Fussenegger, who runs a VR brothel in Berlin, tells The Chainsaw that Apple’s desire to “establish a closed ecosystem” for its products and services might be one reason why.

“Considering Apple’s historical stance on restricting porn-related apps within its App Store, it may be an extended version of the company’s commitment to maintaining a certain standard,” he adds.

A guide to… what content?

One anonymous user was desperate enough to figure out a workaround to access VR porn on the Vision Pro. They even shared a step-by-step guide on how to do so on r/oculusnsfw. Long story short, the user has to jump through hoops and enable four settings in order to allow the download and installation of VR porn content.

“This headset is jam-packed with innovative tech and promises a lot!” the author of the guide wrote enthusiastically.

However, because of the number of steps needed, many users on the subreddit became dissuaded.

“It’s f***ing hilarious how many workarounds you need just to watch porn on this thing LOL,” commented one user. Honestly, visiting a VR brothel may even save them more time at this point.

“[Once one recognises] that a significant portion of internet traffic is attributed to adult content consumption, it becomes evident that simply blocking access is not a viable solution,” Fussenegger explained.

On Apple’s Vision Pro User Guide, the company also warns against modifying the device’s internal software as it could pose security risks.

“Some unauthorised modifications may cause damage to visionOS that is not repairable. This can result in the hacked Apple Vision Pro becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied visionOS update is installed,” the Guide reads.

You’ve been warned.
